Cuisine and dining on Cunard Line
Cunard Line provides good-quality ingredients (sourced in Europe and the USA). The cuisine is still of a mass market standard (you’ll find butter in packets). However, at the self-serve buffets, salt and pepper are usually provided on each table. Espresso and cappuccino (Cunard Line uses Colombian coffee) are available in the dining rooms, and at extra cost in many bars.
All three Cunard Line ships feature ‘grill rooms’ as well as traditional large restaurants, and casual (self-service) dining venues. Grill rooms are more exclusive and some have à la carte menus, while the main restaurants have fixed menus.
The grill rooms have oneseating dining at assigned tables, while the main restaurants (called either Britannia or Mauretania) have two seatings.
The cuisine includes many traditional British favourites, together with extensive French dishes as well as regional specialties from around the world.
Family cruises with Cunard
Children’s facilities are fairly extensive, and youngsters are supervised by British nannies.
Entertainment on Cunard
The main production shows are colourful and visual. All production shows are performed to pre-recorded click tracks to supplement the showband.
Other shows consist of cabaret acts (typically singers, magicians, mime artistes, comedy jugglers, and, occasionally, comedians) doing the cruise ship circuit. The ships carry a number of bands and small musical units to provide live music for dancing or listening.
Spa and fitness facilities on Cunard
The spa and fitness centres are operated by two different concessions: Steiner Leisure (QE2), and Canyon Ranch (QM2, Queen Victoria)
